Egypt’s ICT Minister Meets with Cisco, Vodafone, and iQor to Boost Tech Sector
Talks covered the company’s activities in electronics design and customer experience (CX) services, as well as opportunities for collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy in building digital skills.
The Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has met with Executive Vice President and Chief People, Policy and Purpose Officer at Cisco Francine Katsoudas, along with senior company executives, during his visit to New York, United States. The discussions focused on Cisco’s plans and major projects in Egypt’s ICT sector.
Talks covered the company’s activities in electronics design and customer experience (CX) services, as well as opportunities for collaboration with Cisco Networking Academy in building digital skills. The meeting also highlighted progress in the partnership that led to the launch of the CCIE Mobile Lab in Egypt, hosted at Cisco’s Cairo office, in cooperation with the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI). The lab allows engineers to obtain the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) qualification without the need to travel abroad.
In a related meeting, Talaat held talks with Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer of Vodafone Joakim Reiter. Discussions addressed Vodafone’s projects in Egypt to enhance network infrastructure, alongside exploring avenues of cooperation in digital capacity-building. The meeting also reviewed collaboration with the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities (NAID) in developing assistive technologies to advance digital empowerment for PwDs.
Talaat also met with Senior Vice President Finance at iQor Dustin Fleming, in the presence of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Martin Lehtio. iQor specializes in business process outsourcing (BPO) and customer experience services.
The meeting explored the establishment of a new service center in Egypt. Talks also underscored Egypt’s efforts to position itself as a global hub for offshoring services and a preferred destination for international companies in the industry, while also pointing to the incentives offered under the Digital Egypt Strategy for Offshoring Industry. iQor executives outlined the company’s global outsourcing operations and its worldwide footprint.
The meetings were attended by CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) Ahmed Elzaher, Assistant ICT Minister for Strategy and Implementation Sherine El-Guindy, and Head of the Central Department of International Relations at MCIT Samah Aziz.
It is worth noting that the ICT Minister is currently on a visit to the United States, where he is meeting with senior executives of leading American technology companies to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation in the ICT sector.
