South Africa and Switzerland Seal Partnership to Drive Research and Innovation
The initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between TIA, the National Research Foundation (NRF), and leading Swiss innovation institutions.
The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) has announced the official launch of the Swiss–South Africa Research and Innovation Partnership Programme, marking a new chapter in global collaboration between the two countries. The initiative follows the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between TIA, the National Research Foundation (NRF), and leading Swiss innovation institutions.
The programme is designed to accelerate the journey from research to innovation, with a strong emphasis on technology-driven entrepreneurship. By working with Swiss partners and industry players, the collaboration aims to ensure that new ideas and technologies are commercialised effectively, creating tangible socio-economic benefits in South Africa and beyond.
The agreement also reflects a commitment to impact, inclusion, and internationalisation. By providing South African innovators with access to Swiss expertise and global markets, the partnership is expected to open new pathways for local solutions to achieve international reach.
This collaboration represents a significant step in strengthening South Africa’s innovation ecosystem, bridging research with commercial opportunities, and positioning the country as a key player in global knowledge exchange and technological advancement.
