2 min read

The session focused on assessing implementation milestones, addressing challenges, and strengthening collaboration toward advancing Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.

The ICT Authority , in partnership with the World Bank,  held a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy (MOICDE)  to review the progress of the 8th Implementation Support Mission of the Kenya Digital Economy Acceleration Project (KDEAP). The session focused on assessing implementation milestones, addressing challenges, and strengthening collaboration toward advancing Kenya’s digital transformation agenda.

Acting ICT Authority CEO Zilpher Owiti, OGW, opened the meeting by commending the progress made since the last mission. She acknowledged that the project had successfully overcome early implementation challenges and emphasized the Authority’s renewed focus on increasing project absorption, ensuring tangible impact, and sustaining long-term benefits for communities across the country.

Eng. John Tanui, CBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for ICT and the Digital Economy, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding digital connectivity nationwide. He noted that current initiatives aim to bridge connectivity gaps, particularly in rural areas, to support schools, training institutions, and public facilities.

Stephen Isaboke, EBS, Principal Secretary, State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, highlighted progress in two key initiatives focused on digitizing and standardizing government information. These efforts are designed to promote consistency, accuracy, and reliability in communication across state departments, ensuring transparency and efficiency in public service delivery.

As the meeting concluded, participants expressed confidence in the project’s trajectory and reaffirmed their collective commitment to collaboration, innovation, and timely execution. The KDEAP team underscored its dedication to driving Kenya’s digital transformation and ensuring that every milestone contributes to a more connected, inclusive, and sustainable digital economy.
