Government of Gabon Distributes 10,000 Computers to Support Youth Empowerment
The initiative, led under the direction of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, represents a major step in the country’s strategy to equip students with the tools needed to thrive in the modern digital world.
The Government of Gabon, through the Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation, has launched the “One Student, One Computer” program aimed at strengthening digital inclusion and youth empowerment. The initiative, led under the direction of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, represents a major step in the country’s strategy to equip students with the tools needed to thrive in the modern digital world.
As part of the program, 10,000 computers are being distributed to students across the country. This effort underscores the government’s determination to place young people at the center of Gabon’s digital development and to create equal opportunities for access to technology.
In addition to the distribution of computers, the initiative featured educational and interactive panels that brought together students, digital professionals, influencers, and youth with disabilities. These sessions were designed to promote dialogue, share experiences, and encourage collaboration between young people and key actors in Gabon’s digital ecosystem.
The program reflects a broader vision to build a digitally capable generation that is prepared to contribute to national progress through innovation, education, and technology. It also aligns with Gabon’s digital transformation agenda, which seeks to make technology a driver of inclusive growth and shared prosperity.
The Ministry of Digital Economy, Digitalisation and Innovation reaffirmed its commitment to supporting young people and to ensuring that digital tools are leveraged to advance education, innovation, and economic opportunity throughout the country.
With the launch of this initiative, Gabon continues to strengthen its position as a regional leader in digital transformation and youth development, empowering students to learn, create, and participate actively in building the nation’s digital future.
