The partnership between the Ministry and ZICTA has been described as a model of effective inter-governmental collaboration focused on modernising education delivery.

The Ministry of Education in Zambia  has praised the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA)  for its ongoing efforts to accelerate digital learning across the country. The acknowledgment came during a courtesy visit by ZICTA Director General Eng. Collins Mbulo to the Ministry in Lusaka, where both institutions reaffirmed their shared goal of transforming education through technology.

The partnership between the Ministry and ZICTA has been described as a model of effective inter-governmental collaboration focused on modernising education delivery. The Ministry emphasised that digitalisation is central to the future of learning and reaffirmed its commitment to equipping schools with electronic devices to strengthen access to digital education.

ZICTA reported that more than 15,600 learners are currently accessing lessons through the national E-learning platform. The authority has also been conducting sensitisation campaigns to raise awareness and encourage wider usage of the platform. Since 2018, ZICTA has donated 11,600 computers to 580 schools, with each school receiving 20 computers, and plans are underway to extend donations to an additional 200 schools.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Education and ZICTA represents a significant milestone in Zambia’s push for inclusive, technology-driven education. By integrating ICT infrastructure into the school system, the initiative is helping to ensure that learners nationwide are equipped with the digital tools and skills needed to thrive in a modern, knowledge-based economy.
