SMART Zambia and World Bank Lead Drive to Strengthen Digital Public Infrastructure
This collaboration aims to accelerate the establishment of a robust DPI framework that promotes efficiency, transparency, and accessibility across digital government systems.
The National Workshop on Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) opened in Livingstone on October 27, 2025, bringing together key players from government, the private sector, civil society, and academia to strengthen Zambia’s digital transformation agenda. The event marks an important milestone in advancing the country’s efforts to build an inclusive and interconnected digital ecosystem that enhances public service delivery and supports national development goals.
The workshop is hosted by the SMART Zambia Institute in partnership with the World Bank, which has invested US$100 million in the Digital Zambia Acceleration Project (DZAP). This collaboration aims to accelerate the establishment of a robust DPI framework that promotes efficiency, transparency, and accessibility across digital government systems.
The DPI initiative is envisioned as an ecosystem built on collaboration and inclusion, supporting modern, efficient, and connected service delivery for citizens. Through this workshop, participants are working to build institutional trust, align national standards, and design interoperable systems that improve the way government, businesses, and citizens interact in the digital space.
This engagement reflects Zambia’s ongoing commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and citizen-focused digital future. It reinforces the national goal of ensuring that no one is left behind in the country’s transition toward a smart and connected Zambia, where technology serves as a foundation for economic growth, social inclusion, and sustainable development.
