Kenya Expands Rural Communication Access with New Nosim FM Transmitter in Kajiado
The launch of the Nosim FM Transmitter reinforces the government’s ongoing efforts to bridge the digital and information divide across Kenya, fostering inclusion, connectivity, and empowerment through modern broadcasting infrastructure.
The Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy of Kenya has officially launched the KBC Nosim FM Transmitter in Oleleshwa Hills, Kajiado County. The event was presided over by Cabinet Secretary H.E. Hon. William Kabogo Gitau and marks a significant milestone in strengthening information access and community development through local broadcasting.
The commissioning of the transmitter represents an important step toward improving communication and inclusivity, particularly for the Maasai community and surrounding areas. The relaunch of Nosim FM underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Kenyan, regardless of location or background, benefits from the national communication and digital ecosystem. It aims to enhance cultural preservation, civic engagement, and access to reliable information at the grassroots level.
Nosim FM will serve as a critical platform for community empowerment, providing residents with educational and developmental content on issues such as land management, livelihoods, and sustainable resource use. By increasing access to localized and relevant information, the station will help strengthen decision-making and community participation in development initiatives.
The Chairman of the KBC Board of Directors, Mr. Tom Mshindi, expressed appreciation to partners and stakeholders who supported the installation and activation of the transmitter. The launch ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Kajiado Deputy Governor Hon. Martin Moshisho, Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Mr. Temesi Mukani, KBC Managing Director Ms. Agnes Nguna, and Kajiado West Deputy County Commissioner Ms. Lydia Munyi, among other guests.
