The network, with Digital Parks Africa (DPA) as its inaugural point of presence (PoP), connects major data centres across Gauteng through a high-speed, low-latency fibre backbone.

Oni-Tel Fibre Networks, a South African fibre optic infrastructure provider, has launched its Inter-Data Centre Fibre Network, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital infrastructure landscape. The network, with Digital Parks Africa (DPA) as its inaugural point of presence (PoP), connects major data centres across Gauteng through a high-speed, low-latency fibre backbone. This development aims to enhance enterprise and cloud infrastructure performance, enabling seamless interconnectivity and scalable digital operations across the region.

The new network positions Oni-Tel as a first mover in introducing innovative infrastructure access models, built specifically for data centre interconnectivity (DCI) and external connections such as Carrier Points of Presence, Carrier Hotels, and Campus Cross-Connects. With this purpose-built design, Oni-Tel is emerging as a key disruptor in the data connectivity market, pioneering next-generation technology and reshaping how businesses approach interconnectivity and scale.

The company’s management highlighted its focus on creating a resilient, future-proof infrastructure supported by intelligent monitoring systems. Having already deployed over 70 kilometres of high-speed fibre, Oni-Tel’s network is designed to meet the increasing demand for stability, scalability, and speed in digital operations. The infrastructure is pre-provisioned to support time-critical services, ensuring that clients experience seamless transitions and reliable performance.

Oni-Tel’s network distinguishes itself through simplicity and reliability, offering a clean, new system without legacy constraints. Its advanced sensing and proactive monitoring technologies are designed to prevent network issues before they occur. This approach, coupled with cost-effective and value-driven solutions, offers a strong alternative to traditional backhaul providers.

The company’s leadership team comprises seasoned professionals from across the telecommunications and infrastructure industries, united by a shared vision of innovation and long-term growth. Their combined expertise underpins Oni-Tel’s commitment to delivering high-performance connectivity solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern enterprises.

During the launch event at DPA’s Midrand headquarters, DPA Head of Business Development, Eckart Zollner, praised the collaboration as a demonstration of strong partnership and shared innovation. With customers already connected via the data centre, the event not only celebrated technological achievement but also highlighted the importance of cooperation in driving industry advancement. The partnership between Oni-Tel and DPA reflects a mutual goal to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation through resilient, flexible, and future-ready connectivity solutions.
