The discussions centered on enhancing collaboration between the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications and the Office of the Ombudsman to promote transparency, accountability, and the constitutional right to access information.

The Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications, Mr. Stephen Isaboke, EBS, hosted a delegation from the Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), led by Vice Chairperson and Commissioner in charge of Access to Information, Ms. Dorothy Kimengech, during a courtesy visit at the Ministry headquarters.

The discussions centered on enhancing collaboration between the State Department for Broadcasting and Telecommunications and the Office of the Ombudsman to promote transparency, accountability, and the constitutional right to access information.

The CAJ plays a pivotal role in upholding Article 35 of the Constitution, which guarantees every citizen the right to access information held by the State. This mandate aligns closely with the State Department’s objectives to facilitate public communication, promote media freedom, and improve digital access to government services and information.

PS Isaboke emphasized that effective information sharing is crucial for building public trust, strengthening governance, and empowering citizens. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the CAJ to streamline information dissemination and leverage digital platforms to make government data more accessible, accurate, and citizen-friendly.

The meeting highlighted that joint initiatives between the State Department and CAJ can foster openness, inclusivity, and ensure that access to information remains a cornerstone of public service delivery in Kenya.

Also present at the meeting was Mr. Temesi Mukani, Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, reflecting the Ministry’s unified approach to promoting a transparent and accountable information ecosystem that empowers citizens to participate meaningfully in governance and national development.
