Building on the trusted Speedtest® platform, Speedtest Pulse offers technicians a scalable, easy-to-use solution that delivers actionable insights and real-world network performance validation.

A global leader in connectivity intelligence, Ookla,  a division of Ziff Davis, has unveiled Speedtest Pulse™, a cutting-edge network diagnostic device aimed at providing definitive, smartphone-based validation and troubleshooting for internet service providers (ISPs) and enterprises. Building on the trusted Speedtest® platform, Speedtest Pulse offers technicians a scalable, easy-to-use solution that delivers actionable insights and real-world network performance validation.

The launch addresses a critical need in the industry as Wi-Fi increasingly becomes the backbone of modern homes and businesses. With the proliferation of connected devices and complex Wi-Fi-only networks, ensuring high-quality, consistent service has become a major operational challenge. ISPs require tools to verify network performance at installation and troubleshoot issues quickly to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce support costs.

“Technicians have been forced to choose between overly simple apps and cost-prohibitive expert systems. Speedtest Pulse is the solution the industry has been waiting for. We’re putting the same advanced expertise trusted by 90% of the Fortune 500 directly into the hands of every technician, giving them a powerful tool to validate in-home Wi-Fi quality, solve problems on the spot, and improve customer experience.”

Stephen Bye, President and CEO, Ookla

Speedtest Pulse offers two primary modes to simplify network diagnostics. Active Pulse allows technicians to instantly validate new installations or pinpoint network issues, whether stemming from the internet service, local Wi-Fi, or a specific device. It translates complex data into real-world visibility and recommendations, generating definitive network performance reports and providing a baseline for future troubleshooting.

Continuous Pulse, slated for release in 2026, will function as a “leave-behind” tool to collect performance data over time, identify intermittent issues, and detect performance degradation before customers notice problems. This innovation aims to reduce repeat technician visits and improve overall service efficiency.

“Technicians regularly tell us that their tools provided a flood of raw data with no guidance. Speedtest Pulse acts as the expert in their pocket, translating complex RF data and throughput metrics into actionable recommendations, ensuring the right problem is solved the first time.”

Anssi Tauriainen, SVP of Engineering, Ookla

By leveraging Speedtest’s network of over 15,000 servers worldwide, Speedtest Pulse ensures accurate last-mile performance measurements across locations. Data collected is integrated with Speedtest Insights™, enabling centralized performance dashboards and seamless deployment into existing performance management systems.

With Speedtest Pulse, Ookla positions itself at the forefront of next-generation network diagnostics, empowering ISPs and enterprises to enhance service quality and customer experience across increasingly complex digital environments.
