At AfricaCom 2025 in Cape Town, the spotlight was on how emerging technologies can transform African businesses. Showcasing DataMiner for African Markets

Skyline Communications showcased DataMiner, a vendor-agnostic, XOPS software platform designed to unify siloed data across multiple systems. Strydom explained that DataMiner is highly scalable, offering immediate value from deployment, enabling businesses to start leveraging data without long delays. The platform addresses multiple verticals, including telecommunications, broadcast, media, satellite, IoT ecosystems, energy, and utilities, making it suitable for Africa’s diverse and rapidly evolving markets.

“The biggest opportunity is any company out there has got systems in place already, and they, what we call in-point solutions, they’ve got data, everybody’s producing data, but not really leveraging it, or they have these in-point solutions in siloed data systems. DataMiner is all about getting that into one sort of solution together. What we see is Africa being an emerging market, really rapidly growing. Companies are either starting out or a little bit behind. And with our platform, it’s very easy to quickly get ahead of that or jump into that sort of train and keep going with that much easier.”

– Paul Strydom, Regional Account Manager at Skyline Communications

Importance of Industry Presence

As Skyline’s first in-country presence in Africa, Strydom emphasized the value of industry events for networking, brand building, and understanding local market needs. Engaging directly with African operators allows Skyline to tailor its approach while maintaining a scalable, out-of-the-box solution that grows with clients’ operations.

Delivering Real Value

DataMiner converts data into actionable insights, supporting decision-making across enterprises. By centralizing data and enabling control, monitoring, and automation, the platform allows companies to maximize efficiency and prepare for future growth. Its flexible deployment – through community, subscription, or perpetual models, ensures accessibility for businesses at all stages.

Future Opportunities and Strategic Focus

Looking ahead, Strydom highlighted the importance of satellite connectivity, smart ecosystems, and AI-driven operations in Africa. Skyline’s vision emphasizes automation, operational simplification, and leveraging emerging technologies for efficient network and ecosystem management. The platform also prioritizes transparency and accessibility, with comprehensive online resources, community engagement, and hands-on support from Skyline’s regional and European teams.
