This acquisition reinforces Vodacom’s position in the country’s digital infrastructure sector and represents one of the largest fibre-infrastructure deals in South Africa, aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting the growth of broadband services nationwide.

Vodacom Group Limited  has announced that its proposed acquisition of a 30% interest in Maziv Proprietary Limited  has received the necessary regulatory approvals and met all conditions precedent. Maziv is the holding company for fibre assets owned by Community Investment Ventures Holdings (CIVH), including Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa. The transaction, first announced on SENS on 10 November 2021, is set for implementation on 1 December 2025.

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) has granted approval for the transaction, enabling Vodacom to proceed with its strategic investment in South Africa’s fibre infrastructure. The company confirmed that all remaining conditions required to finalize the deal have been satisfied, marking a major milestone in the expansion of its fibre network capabilities.
