Author: Joyce Onyeagoro

Tshesane brings nearly two decades of experience with PwC, having built extensive expertise across Financial Services, Consumer Markets, and Industrial Products and Services sectors.

PwC  has named Anastacia Tshesane as the incoming CEO of PwC South Africa, with her tenure set to begin on 1 July 2026. Tshesane currently chairs both the PwC South Africa Governing Board and the PwC Africa Governance Board, roles she will step down from as Alsue du Preez assumes the chairmanships. Du Preez, who serves as PwC Africa Insurance Leader, brings over 18 years of partner experience in advising major listed financial services clients, reinforcing the firm’s governance capabilities.

Tshesane brings nearly two decades of experience with PwC, having built extensive expertise across Financial Services, Consumer Markets, and Industrial Products and Services sectors. She has led audits for prominent local and multinational companies and is known for a leadership style focused on quality, ethics, inclusion, and commitment to the firm’s people and brand.

She will succeed Shirley Machaba, who has been CEO since 2019 and will retire on 30 June 2026, concluding a distinguished 24-year career with PwC. Machaba’s tenure has been marked by efforts to strengthen trust in the profession and create meaningful impact for clients and society.

The leadership transition positions PwC South Africa to continue its trajectory of growth, innovation, and client service excellence. Tshesane’s appointment reflects the firm’s focus on sustaining quality, advancing governance, and building on the strong foundation established by her predecessor.
