MTN South Africa has strengthened its network across major holiday destinations ahead of the 2025 festive rush, rolling out upgrades designed to handle the sharp spike in seasonal demand. The company has expanded capacity and modernised infrastructure in popular hotspots including KwaZulu-Natal’s coastline, Cape Town and surrounding Western Cape towns, key Eastern Cape cities, as well as high-traffic areas in Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
These enhancements include additional 4G and 5G capacity, upgraded sites, and improved backhaul to support faster speeds, smoother streaming, more stable calls, and reliable digital transactions. MTN says it has been closely monitoring shifting traffic patterns and reinforcing high-demand routes as part of its long-term network resilience programme.
The upgrades form part of MTN’s ongoing multi-billion-rand investment in creating a robust, future-ready network. As the holiday peak approaches, the company aims to ensure travellers and residents experience uninterrupted, high-quality connectivity wherever they go.
