The initiative aims to strengthen these associations’ role in safeguarding the rights of telecommunications service users.

The National Telecommunications Organization and the Consumer Protection Agency in Egypt have conducted a specialized training program designed to enhance the capabilities of Consumer Protection Associations across the country. The initiative aims to strengthen these associations’ role in safeguarding the rights of telecommunications service users. Participants included representatives from various governorates, including Greater Cairo, Alexandria, Lake, Western, Eastern, Kafr El-Sheikh, Dahlia, and Beni Suef, as part of the ongoing implementation of a joint cooperation protocol between the two agencies.

The training focused on building both institutional and practical capacities of consumer protection staff. Key areas covered included the role of the National Telecommunications Organization in regulating the telecom market, monitoring service providers, and identifying authorized channels for receiving, registering, and following up on complaints. Participants also reviewed mechanisms for protecting consumer rights, ensuring service quality, and understanding relevant provisions of the Consumer Protection Act applicable to the telecommunications and IT sectors. The program reinforces the critical role of civil society organizations in promoting transparency and protecting the interests of telecom users in Egypt.
