Sohar International Recognized by Central Bank of Oman for Advancing Digital Financial Infrastructure

Sohar International has been formally recognized by the Central Bank of Oman (CBO) during its Annual Meeting with Financial Institutions, themed “Reimagining Tomorrow.” The recognition highlights the bank’s successful implementation of the Electronic Direct Debit (e-Mandate) service and its pioneering role in launching Oman’s National Payment Card – “Maal.” These initiatives strengthen the resilience and efficiency of the nation’s payments infrastructure and underscore the bank’s leadership in Oman’s digital transformation agenda.

The awards were presented by H.E. Ahmed Jaafar Salim Al-Musalmi, Governor of the CBO, and received by Abdulwahid Mohamed Al Murshidi, CEO of Sohar International.

Sohar International’s achievements in 2025 extend beyond regulatory compliance, reflecting its commitment to financial inclusion, responsible credit allocation, talent development, and digital literacy. By leveraging advanced technologies and strategic collaboration with national stakeholders, the bank supports the adoption of modern financial solutions while reinforcing operational and governance frameworks.
