Mauritania Launches Digital Transparency Portal to Track Government Spending
The platform covers all expenses programmed or declared since the appointment of the government of Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay in August 2024 and will be regularly updated with new data.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation and Administration Modernization in Mauritania has unveiled a new digital portal designed to provide full transparency over government expenditures. The platform covers all expenses programmed or declared since the appointment of the government of Prime Minister Mokhtar Ould Djay in August 2024 and will be regularly updated with new data.
The portal is publicly accessible without the need for registration or account creation and features a bilingual interface in Arabic and French. Users can track, analyze, and research public spending through advanced search functions, detailed statistics, tables, and graphs. The system covers expenditures at all levels, including central administrations, affiliated institutions, and related projects, providing information on contracting authorities, tender processes, financing sources, contractor details, and market values.
This initiative aligns with the directives of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani to strengthen good governance, accountability, and citizen engagement. By providing citizens, civil society, media, researchers, and economic actors with reliable access to financial data, the portal aims to enhance institutional oversight and empower public participation in financial management.
The Ministry emphasizes that transparency is a guiding principle, digital tools are the means, and citizens are essential partners in achieving effective governance.
