CAMTEL and CBC Secure 44.884 Billion FCFA Financing for Cameroon Mobile Network Expansion
The MNE project focuses on the densification, desaturation, and extension of Cameroon’s mobile network, aiming to improve connectivity, accelerate digital inclusion, and support the growth of the country’s digital economy.
CAMTEL (Cameroon Telecommunications) and Commercial Bank-Cameroun (CBC) have consolidated a syndicated financing of 44.884 billion FCFA to fund the first phase of CAMTEL’s Mobile Network Expansion (MNE) project. The agreement was signed on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in Yaoundé.
The MNE project focuses on the densification, desaturation, and extension of Cameroon’s mobile network, aiming to improve connectivity, accelerate digital inclusion, and support the growth of the country’s digital economy. CBC acted as Lead Underwriter, Lead Arranger, and Collateral Agent for the financing, reflecting strong confidence in CAMTEL’s business model and its digital transformation strategy.
Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi, Managing Director of CAMTEL, said the funding “strengthens our ability to deploy faster, further and more efficiently,” highlighting its role in boosting nationwide digital infrastructure.
The MNE project is also positioned as a driver of innovation, entrepreneurship, and improved access to digital public services, reinforcing CAMTEL and CBC’s shared commitment to fostering economic growth and technological inclusion in Cameroon.
This financing underscores the strategic collaboration between CAMTEL and CBC to enhance the country’s telecommunications landscape and digital service delivery.
