Senegal’s ANEC Supports Djibanar Municipality in Modernizing Civil Registry Services

Officials said the initiative reflects ANEC’s broader efforts to strengthen local civil registration systems, improve data security, and promote efficient and accessible public services across Senegal.

The Director General of the National Agency for Civil Status (ANEC) , Mr. Matar Ndao, has announced concrete support for the municipality of Djibanar in Sédhiou to modernize its civil status services, including initiatives for digitalization and improved record security.

Speaking at the Baby of Equity celebration in Bafata, Mr. Ndao emphasized the importance of systematic registration of births, marriages, and deaths, calling on residents of Djibanar, Bafata, and the wider Sédhiou region to comply with civil registry requirements. As part of the support program, ANEC handed over a significant batch of equipment to Djibanar municipality to enhance its administrative and technological capacity.

The event, presided over by the Minister of Family and Solidarity, Mrs. Maimouna Dieye, highlighted the critical role of civil registration in protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring accurate population records. The PUMA National Coordinator, organizer of the ceremony, praised ANEC’s commitment to modernizing civil status services and advancing digital transformation in the region.
