INTIC Launches Platform for Reporting Personal Data Breaches in Mozambique

The National Institute of Information and Communication Technologies (INTIC)  has launched a digital platform dedicated to receiving reports of personal data breaches in the digital space. The initiative, introduced on Tuesday, January 28, 2026, is aimed at strengthening privacy protection and building citizens’ confidence in the use of information and communication technologies.

The platform’s launch forms part of Mozambique’s broader efforts to consolidate its personal data protection regime. Authorities emphasized that the availability of effective reporting mechanisms is a key element in safeguarding the rights of data subjects and ensuring accountability among entities that process personal data.

The initiative was unveiled on the sidelines of a webinar organized by INTIC under the theme “Digital Literacy in Mozambique: Challenges and Opportunities.” The event brought together more than 50 participants from public institutions, the private sector, and civil society, reflecting a multi-stakeholder approach to digital governance.

According to INTIC, the personal data breach reporting platform serves as an essential tool for the effective exercise of citizens’ rights, allowing complaints to be submitted in a simple, secure, and accessible manner. To support this process, the institute has established a clear procedural flowchart detailing each stage of complaint handling—from reception and analysis to investigation and final decision—ensuring transparency and predictability.

The move is expected to enhance institutional transparency, clarify internal procedures, and strengthen trust among citizens, institutions, and other stakeholders in Mozambique’s national data protection system. It also reaffirms the Mozambican government’s commitment to privacy protection, good governance, and the ethical and responsible use of digital technologies.
