ICT Authority Welcomes Jessy Kiveu Maruti as New Chief Executive Officer

This mandate encompasses enforcing ICT standards across government, developing and maintaining secure ICT infrastructure, supervising electronic communications, and promoting digital literacy, innovation, and enterprise development.

The Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA)  Board has officially announced the appointment of Jessy Kiveu Maruti as Chief Executive Officer, effective following a rigorous selection process and formal approval by H.E. Hon. William Kabogo Gitau, EGH, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy. The announcement was made in Nairobi on 13 February 2026.

Board Chairperson Hon. Lily Ng’ok highlighted that Mr. Maruti’s extensive experience and demonstrated leadership will strengthen the Authority’s strategic direction and institutional capacity, advancing Kenya’s digital transformation agenda. The Board also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Acting Chief Executive Officer, Zilpher Owiti, for her dedicated service.

Mr. Maruti brings over 18 years of experience in the ICT sector and public administration. He reaffirmed his commitment to accelerating priority digital programmes while maintaining transparency, efficiency, and accountability in executing ICTA’s mandate. This mandate encompasses enforcing ICT standards across government, developing and maintaining secure ICT infrastructure, supervising electronic communications, and promoting digital literacy, innovation, and enterprise development.

The unveiling of the new CEO was witnessed by Eng. John Tanui, CBS, Principal Secretary for ICT and the Digital Economy, along with Board Members and Senior Management of ICTA. Eng. Tanui emphasized that Mr. Maruti will oversee the implementation of the Authority’s mandate and drive key national digital initiatives.

The Board, Management, and Staff of ICTA have congratulated Mr. Maruti on his appointment and wished him success as he leads the Authority toward its vision of a digitally empowered society.
