The funding follows the previously approved $500 million financing from the World Bank, strengthening support for the deployment of 90,000 km of fibre across Nigeria to enhance national connectivity.

Project BRIDGE, Nigeria’s national digital infrastructure initiative, has received a $100 million investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), alongside a €22 million grant from the European Union.

The funding follows the previously approved $500 million financing from the World Bank, strengthening support for the deployment of 90,000 km of fibre across Nigeria to enhance national connectivity.

The EU’s Digital Economy Package contributes a total of €45 million, with €22 million earmarked for Project BRIDGE, €18 million for Digital Public Services, and €5 million to support Nigeria’s 3MTT Programme.

The approvals come after extensive engagement across six European countries over two weeks, aimed at securing partnerships necessary to advance Nigeria’s digital economy objectives. The investment is expected to accelerate broadband expansion and deliver meaningful connectivity to communities nationwide.
