This milestone is part of the Digital Egypt strategy, aimed at localizing cutting-edge global technologies and delivering safer, more advanced services to Egyptian users.

The National Telecommunication Agency  has granted new licenses to Mercedes-Benz Egypt  for Trade to provide Internet of Things (IoT) services for vehicles in Egypt. This milestone is part of the Digital Egypt strategy, aimed at localizing cutting-edge global technologies and delivering safer, more advanced services to Egyptian users.

The signing was conducted by Eng. Mohamed Shamrukh, CEO of the National Telecommunication Agency, and Mrs. Stephanie Vols, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Egypt for Trade, in the presence of several senior leaders and company representatives.

The initiative aligns with Egypt’s broader digital objectives, supporting the adoption of smart vehicle systems and enhancing road safety, operational efficiency, and user experience. The IoT services for cars will enable features such as navigation, real-time tracking, and emergency assistance, while ensuring strong data protection and privacy standards.

Eng. Shamrukh emphasized that the licenses were issued under strict technical and regulatory guidelines, guaranteeing the quality, safety, and sustainability of services. He also noted that the program opens opportunities for other global automotive brands to leverage Egypt’s advanced digital infrastructure, promoting competitiveness and innovation in the country’s automotive and technology sectors.

Egypt has already provided IoT vehicle service licenses to seven other international smart vehicle manufacturers, positioning the country as a hub for advanced connected car technologies in the region.
