Through their platforms, PAYZ members have helped bring unbanked populations into the formal financial system, improving access to basic financial services across the country.

President Hakainde Hichilema has received a courtesy call from the Payments Association of Zambia (PAYZ)  at State House, highlighting the mobile money sector’s growing importance in Zambia’s Digital Financial Services Agenda.

The engagement recognized the role of mobile money operators in expanding access to financial services, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Through their platforms, PAYZ members have helped bring unbanked populations into the formal financial system, improving access to basic financial services across the country.

The President also acknowledged the sector’s contribution to job creation and youth empowerment, noting that mobile money agency networks have created micro-entrepreneurship opportunities for thousands of young people.

The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to working with the mobile money industry as a strategic partner in advancing financial inclusion, supporting digital innovation, and driving inclusive economic growth in Zambia.
