Mauritania’s Nouadhibou EllaLink Cable Station Hits 46% Completion
The EllaLink cable project is expected to enhance Mauritania’s connectivity infrastructure, providing faster, more reliable international bandwidth and supporting the country’s digital transformation objectives.
The Minister of Digital Transformation and Administrative Modernization, Mr. Ahmed Salem Bede, held a working session with a high-level delegation from EllaLink, led by CEO Mr. Philippe Dumont, to assess progress on the EllaLink international submarine cable landing station in Nouadhibou. The project’s foundation stone was laid last July by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties expressed satisfaction that the project had reached 46% completion, noting significant progress in marine works, the beach chamber, station construction, and terrestrial works connecting the beach chamber to the station.
The Minister and EllaLink agreed to intensify efforts to meet contractual deadlines and complete all works by the end of 2026. This accelerated schedule is intended to enable Mauritania to benefit from the new submarine cable starting in the first quarter of 2027.
