NITDA Partners with Nkenne AI to Advance AI-Driven Language Solutions in Nigeria

The partnership aims to bridge Nigeria’s language gap in technology while fostering sustainable business models and infrastructure to drive long-term economic growth and innovation.

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA)  has entered a strategic collaboration with Nkenne AI  to enhance AI-powered language translation and solidify Nigeria’s position as a leading AI hub in Africa.

At the engagement, Dr. Bunmi Ajala, National Director of the National Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Robotics under NITDA, outlined the agency’s ambitious goals, including achieving 70% digital literacy by 2027, developing a strong talent pipeline, and integrating AI into public service delivery. Discussions emphasized the importance of high-performance infrastructure, including GPUs, TPUs, and the GovNet initiative, to support local startups and innovation.

Michael Odokara-Okigbo, CEO of Nkenne AI, highlighted the company’s focus on localized AI solutions, particularly sector-specific translations for healthcare, fintech, and governance. The partnership aims to bridge Nigeria’s language gap in technology while fostering sustainable business models and infrastructure to drive long-term economic growth and innovation.
