Empower+ Launches to Bridge Africa’s Youth Skills and Health Gaps

March 12, 2026
1 min read

The initiative is designed to equip participants with not only technical skills but also confidence, agency, and critical health and life skills.

Tiara Pathon, Director of AI Skills at Microsoft ELEVATE  and 2024 AFRICA Woman in Tech Winner, has introduced Empower+, a comprehensive youth-focused learning platform. Unlike traditional training programs, Empower+ combines career-aligned AI learning pathways—ranging from “AI for All” to Career Readiness and Career Growth—with a resource hub focused on Empowerment, Protection, Awareness, and Resilience.

The initiative is designed to equip participants with not only technical skills but also confidence, agency, and critical health and life skills. By addressing youth unemployment, the gender digital divide, and HIV vulnerability among young women, Empower+ supports safer, healthier, and more prosperous futures for adolescent girls and young women across Africa.

Empower+ emphasizes practical learning and real-life decision-making. Participants can access AI-driven guidance and a chatbot named Amani for personalized support. The platform aims to foster confidence, adaptability, and dignity in work, helping young women navigate a rapidly evolving economy while expanding both their skills and life knowledge.
