Helios Towers Expands Coverage to 158 Million, Eyes 200 Million by 2030
This growth underscores Helios Towers’ focus on expanding mobile network coverage and meeting the surging demand for mobile data across its markets.
Helios Towers has reported a strong fiscal year 2025, driven by technical advancements, digital transformation, and a strategic shift toward next-generation network infrastructure. The company achieved its key tenancy ratio target of 2.2x a year ahead of schedule, supported by a record 2,538 tenancy additions and 421 new sites. This growth underscores Helios Towers’ focus on expanding mobile network coverage and meeting the surging demand for mobile data across its markets.
The company’s network and infrastructure expansion was marked by significant milestones. Total sites reached 14,746, providing mission-critical infrastructure for 158 million people. Deployment speeds also reached record levels, with colocations delivered in just two days and build-to-suit (BTS) sites completed in 102 days. Additionally, Helios leveraged a proprietary Geographic Information System (GIS) to enhance network planning, reducing the average time to add a second tenant to BTS sites from five years in 2020 to just 2.5 years in 2025.
Sustainability and power reliability remain a core focus for Helios Towers. Operating in regions where grid availability averages only 18 hours per day, the company achieved a record power uptime of 99.99%, with power downtime per tower averaging only 1 minute and 10 seconds per week. Under Project 100, part of a US$100 million commitment through 2030, Helios invested US$11 million in 2025 into solar power, advanced battery solutions, and grid integration. Advanced remote monitoring systems were also deployed to optimize energy use and reduce the environmental footprint.
Digital transformation under the IMPACT 2030 strategy has become a key driver of operational efficiency. Helios integrated AI and digital solutions across 60 operational areas, with employees developing AI-enabled applications through coding camps and hackathons to address business inefficiencies. Lean Six Sigma programs now cover 63% of the workforce, resulting in 71 business excellence projects that generated US$11 million in savings in 2025. The company also maintained ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certifications, leveraging frameworks from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) and NIST to safeguard against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
Looking ahead, Helios Towers anticipates continued demand for mobile infrastructure, supported by forecast 5G adoption and more affordable smartphones. Through the IMPACT 2030 strategy, the company plans to invest over US$0.5 billion in organic growth, expanding coverage to nearly 200 million people while continuing to lead in network innovation, digital transformation, and sustainable energy solutions.
“To enable our people to focus on value enhancing work and maximise the fulfilment of working at Helios Towers, we have embedded ‘Digital by Design’ within IMPACT 2030. This is a transformative initiative to integrate AI and digital solutions across approximately 60 identified areas—from site operations to back-office processes and everything in between.”
