The collaboration is set to expand Visa product offerings issued by the bank while enhancing digital payment capabilities, enabling faster, more secure, and seamless financial transactions.

Bank of Abyssinia  and Visa  have strengthened their partnership with a new agreement aimed at advancing digital payment solutions across Ethiopia. The collaboration is set to expand Visa product offerings issued by the bank while enhancing digital payment capabilities, enabling faster, more secure, and seamless financial transactions.

The initiative aligns with Ethiopia’s growing digital economy, supporting the development of advanced digital cards, innovative payment services, and expanded acceptance of digital transactions across retail and commercial channels. By leveraging Visa’s global payment network and technological expertise, the bank is positioned to scale its digital offerings and improve service accessibility for customers nationwide.

This strategic move builds on Bank of Abyssinia’s history as a pioneer in digital payments, including its early adoption of ATM and POS services. The new partnership will further strengthen cross-border payment capabilities, expand secure payment acceptance, and integrate advanced technologies to meet rising demand for fast, reliable, and convenient financial services.

The initiative also supports Ethiopia’s broader digital transformation, providing a foundation for modernizing financial infrastructure, enhancing customer experiences, and enabling participation in the global digital economy. With a clear focus on digital innovation, Bank of Abyssinia is driving the country’s transition toward a fully integrated digital payments ecosystem.
