Under the partnership, both telecom operators will examine opportunities to apply conversational AI to improve customer support experiences, making them more intuitive and efficient.

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison  and Safaricom PLC  have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore collaboration in artificial intelligence, digital financial services, and smarter network investment planning. The agreement was announced during Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona.

Under the partnership, both telecom operators will examine opportunities to apply conversational AI to improve customer support experiences, making them more intuitive and efficient. The companies will also explore how prepaid users can benefit from smarter and more personalized product recommendations, while working to enhance the security and reliability of digital financial services.

President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Vikram Sinha, said partnerships such as this help translate technological ambitions into tangible benefits for customers and communities.

Meanwhile, the CEO of Safaricom, Peter Ndegwa, noted that the collaboration provides an opportunity to combine Safaricom’s expertise in digital financial ecosystems with Indosat’s ongoing transformation efforts to unlock new value within the digital economy.

Through the partnership, both companies aim to contribute to a digital future where connectivity, digital platforms, and financial services work more intelligently to empower individuals and businesses.
