By launching the National AI Strategy, Zimbabwe positions itself to harness the transformative potential of artificial intelligence and strengthen its role in the global AI landscape, advancing innovation and economic development nationwide.

President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has officially launched Zimbabwe’s National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy for 2026–2030, marking a major milestone in the country’s digital transformation agenda. The strategy is designed to ensure that AI technologies benefit all Zimbabweans, from urban centres to remote villages, and reflects the nation’s commitment to the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

The National AI Strategy sets out priorities for integrating AI across key sectors, including agriculture, mining, health, and education, with the aim of enhancing productivity, efficiency, and service delivery. It also proposes incentives to encourage businesses and innovators to adopt AI solutions, supporting the growth of a vibrant, knowledge-driven digital economy.

A key focus of the strategy is the development of ethical, human-centred AI systems that respect fundamental rights while promoting inclusive growth. President Mnangagwa highlighted the need to strengthen laws and regulatory frameworks to safeguard citizens, particularly children, as AI technologies expand across various sectors.
