Mali and Orange Mali Deepen Collaboration on University Digital Transformation

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Mali  has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the digital transformation of higher education following a high-level meeting between Minister Bourema Kansaye and Leyti N’Diaye, Director General of Orange Mali. 

The meeting, held as part of a courtesy visit, provided an opportunity for the minister to congratulate N’Diaye on his recent appointment while highlighting the strategic role of Orange Mali in driving the country’s digital development. He also praised the long-standing collaboration between the ministry and the company, particularly through initiatives led by the Orange Mali Foundation, which have supported education and training efforts.

During the discussions, both parties reaffirmed their willingness to deepen cooperation to strengthen Mali’s higher education and research ecosystem. Key focus areas included improving university connectivity, accelerating the digitalisation of higher education systems, and expanding access to digital learning resources such as online libraries.

A major point of engagement was the proposed development of a Digital University project, aimed at modernising the sector and widening access to quality higher education across the country. The initiative is expected to play a central role in equipping students and researchers with the tools needed for a more technology-driven academic environment.

The visit also formed part of Orange Mali’s broader effort to engage with key government stakeholders and reinforce strategic partnerships. The Director General was accompanied by senior company officials, reflecting the importance of the collaboration in supporting Mali’s digital and educational ambitions.
