Burkina Faso Advances Digital Transformation with Online IT Certification System

The Government of Burkina Faso has announced a major shift toward digitalization in the processing of technical certifications in information technology. According to an official service note issued by the Ministry of Digital Transition, Posts and Electronic Communications  through its General Directorate of Digital Transformation, all applications for Technical Certification in IT (ATI) must now be submitted via an online platform.

The directive, referenced under document number 2026-056 / MTDPC/SG/DGTD and issued in Ouagadougou on March 18, 2026, outlines a transition from traditional paper-based submissions to a fully digital system. Applicants are required to use the ATI platform, accessible through the official website  for both new certification requests and renewals.

As part of this transition, the authorities have set a clear deadline for compliance. Starting April 1, 2026, physical paper files will no longer be accepted. This means that all certification processes will be handled exclusively through the online platform, marking a significant step in the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The move is expected to streamline administrative procedures, improve efficiency, and enhance accessibility for applicants while reducing reliance on manual documentation. It also reflects Burkina Faso’s ongoing efforts to modernize public services and expand the use of digital technologies across government operations.
