March 25, 2026
2 min read

It targets senior public sector professionals, including Deputy Directors and equivalent ranks, equipping them with practical skills in artificial intelligence, policy development, and data-driven decision-making.

Ghana is continuing efforts to strengthen its public sector capacity in artificial intelligence with the commencement of the second cohort of the National AI Masterclass in Akuse. The programme runs from March 21 to 25 and forms part of the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.

The initiative is being implemented by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations  in collaboration with AI Africa  and the Knowledge Web Center.  It targets senior public sector professionals, including Deputy Directors and equivalent ranks, equipping them with practical skills in artificial intelligence, policy development, and data-driven decision-making.

The Ministry noted that the training is designed to go beyond basic AI knowledge and focus on developing integrated systems that can improve governance, enhance institutional efficiency, and support effective public service delivery. Participants are being trained on how to apply AI in real-world government operations to support national development goals.

Officials involved in the programme emphasized the importance of combining technology with human judgment, ethics, and strategic thinking to achieve meaningful transformation. This approach is intended to ensure that AI is used responsibly and effectively within public institutions.

The Ministry also highlighted that similar training initiatives have already reached about 100 government officials across various ministries and agencies. These efforts are part of a wider plan to build a strong digital ecosystem and prepare Ghana’s public sector to actively participate in the digital economy. Overall, the National AI Masterclass reflects Ghana’s commitment to leveraging artificial intelligence to improve governance, support policy implementation, and drive innovation across the public sector.
