Egypt and SAP Deepen Ties to Boost AI, Cloud and Outsourcing Growth

Egypt is intensifying efforts to position itself as a regional technology hub following high-level talks between government officials and global software firm SAP on expanding investment and digital collaboration.
During a meeting with SAP’s Regional President for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Augusta Spinelli, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Raafat Hendy, explored opportunities to grow the company’s presence in the country. Discussions centered on expanding SAP’s outsourcing operations and strengthening its investment footprint in Egypt.
A key focus of the meeting was enhancing cooperation in cloud computing to support Egypt’s push for greater digital sovereignty, particularly over data and applications hosted on SAP platforms. Both sides also examined the rollout of advanced artificial intelligence capabilities in the Egyptian market, alongside joint initiatives to boost digital skills through specialized training programs targeting young people.
The talks further covered plans to collaborate on a comprehensive study aimed at identifying labor market demands in SAP-related technology fields, helping align workforce development with industry needs.
Hendy reaffirmed the commitment of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology Egypt to strengthening the competitiveness of the country’s ICT sector globally. He highlighted ongoing efforts to foster a business-friendly environment that supports the expansion of multinational companies and increases exports of digital services.
He also emphasized the importance of partnerships with global technology firms to scale up digital capacity building and develop highly skilled talent capable of supporting Egypt’s ambitions as a leading outsourcing and IT offshoring destination.
Spinelli, in response, praised the longstanding partnership between SAP and the ministry, noting the company’s commitment to supporting Egypt’s digital transformation. She described Egypt as a strategic and high-potential market, adding that SAP aims to deepen collaboration through talent development and innovation-driven initiatives that contribute to sustainable economic growth.
Meanwhile, Mohammed Samy reiterated the company’s dedication to empowering youth and enhancing their digital skills, confirming plans to increase investment in training programs designed to prepare the next generation for a rapidly evolving digital economy.
The meeting was attended by senior government and industry stakeholders, including Ahmed Elzaher of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency and Heba Saleh of the Information Technology Institute, alongside other officials from both SAP and the ministry.
