The initiative aims to address rising fuel costs, reduce emissions, and strengthen economic stability by offering an alternative mobility system less exposed to fuel price volatility.

Spiro  has officially deployed 1,000 new electric bikes in Ogun State, Nigeria, in a major push to expand sustainable transport infrastructure and improve access to affordable mobility solutions.

The deployment was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, highlighting strong federal and state-level support for cleaner and more resilient transport systems.

The initiative aims to address rising fuel costs, reduce emissions, and strengthen economic stability by offering an alternative mobility system less exposed to fuel price volatility. According to the company, electric mobility provides predictable operating costs for riders while reducing dependence on imported fuel and easing pressure on foreign exchange.

Spiro, which describes itself as Africa’s largest battery-swapping network for electric two-wheelers, said the rollout is part of its broader strategy to scale practical and cost-efficient mobility solutions tailored to African cities.
