Overall, the initiative seeks to turn digital transformation ideas into practical solutions that can improve services, strengthen economies, and support inclusive development across Morocco, Africa, and the wider Arab region.

The Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform in Morocco  has highlighted a major milestone at GITEX Africa 2026 with the official inauguration of the Digital for Sustainable Development (D4SD) pavilion in Marrakech.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, alongside the Minister of Digital Transition, Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, and UNDP representatives. The pavilion is designed as a strategic platform to promote the use of digital technology and artificial intelligence to support sustainable and inclusive development across participating countries.

The D4SD initiative aims to strengthen national digital strategies, improve institutional capacity, and encourage collaboration between governments and the private sector. It is also aligned with global discussions launched at the United Nations General Assembly in 2025, where digital transformation and AI for development were key priorities.

Alongside the launch, the pavilion hosted a series of strategic discussions under the “D4SD Talks” program. These sessions focused on topics such as women’s empowerment in the digital economy, building AI skills for youth, responsible AI governance, digital health innovation, and cross-regional cooperation between countries in the Global South.

Overall, the initiative seeks to turn digital transformation ideas into practical solutions that can improve services, strengthen economies, and support inclusive development across Morocco, Africa, and the wider Arab region.
