April 13, 2026
2 min read

Beyond infrastructure development, the Nexus AI Factory is positioned as a foundation for a sovereign, innovative, and sustainable digital ecosystem aligned with Morocco’s “Digital Morocco 2030” vision, strengthening the country’s ambition to become a continental leader in artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.

A major milestone has been announced for Morocco’s technology ecosystem with the official launch of the “Nexus AI Factory,” a landmark artificial intelligence initiative unveiled on the sidelines of GITEX Africa 2026.

The project is led by Nexus Core Systems  in partnership with Morocco’s Ministère de la Transition Numérique et de la Réforme de l’Administration,  the MICEPP,  and the AMDIE.

Designed to position Morocco as a strategic artificial intelligence hub bridging Africa, Europe, and global markets, the Nexus AI Factory will integrate a high-performance HPC data center, a Center of Excellence focused on advanced services and skills development, and an Innovation Hub aimed at accelerating the creation of emerging technologies and ecosystem growth.

The initiative represents a total investment of 12 billion dirhams, to be deployed in two phases beginning in 2027. The first phase, located in Nouaceur, is valued at 5 billion dirhams and will feature a 16 MW infrastructure supporting 50 highly skilled jobs. The second phase, planned for northern Morocco, is valued at 7 billion dirhams and will expand capacity by more than 20 MW, bringing total employment to 125 jobs.

A key highlight of the project is its sustainability commitment, with operations planned to run entirely on renewable energy through a strategic partnership with TAQA Morocco, positioning the initiative as a model for “Green AI” development in the region.

The project also involves global technology and investment partners, including Nvidia and Lloyds Capital, reinforcing its ambition to build world-class AI infrastructure.

Speaking at the announcement, key stakeholders including Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Duke Buchan III, Jaap Zuiderveld, Christopher Yoshida, and Azeddine Zroura highlighted the project’s strategic importance in advancing Morocco’s digital transformation agenda.
