Mozambique’s INCM Celebrates Girls in ICT Day with Emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Innovation

April 14, 2026
2 min read

The event aims to inspire and encourage girls and young women to pursue careers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), with a particular focus on emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, geospatial intelligence, digital skills, and innovation.

The Communications Regulatory Authority of Mozambique (INCM)  will host the Girls in ICT Day 2026 celebrations on Thursday, April 23, 2026, joining a global initiative led by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

Girls in ICT Day is an annual global observance held on the fourth Thursday of April, designed to promote gender equality in the technology sector and inspire the next generation of female innovators and leaders. The 2026 edition places special emphasis on Artificial Intelligence, highlighting its growing role in transforming societies and the importance of ensuring that young women are active creators of technology rather than passive users.

In Mozambique, the INCM-led celebration will feature a series of lectures, training sessions, mentoring activities, and knowledge-sharing engagements. These sessions are designed to highlight the role of women in the digital sector while promoting inclusion, skills development, and access to opportunities within the national technology ecosystem. The event will also spotlight the INCM Technological Incubator, known as ThinkLab Mozambique, as a platform for fostering digital entrepreneurship, innovation, and the development of socially impactful technological solutions.

The morning programme will be held at the INCM auditorium and will be open to the public, followed by afternoon mentoring sessions targeting approximately 30 selected girls who registered electronically. Through these activities, INCM aims to strengthen interest in ICT careers and contribute to building a more inclusive and innovation-driven digital future in Mozambique.
