The initiative was unveiled in Harare on Thursday alongside a portfolio of products and services aimed at driving rapid AI integration across sectors, with solutions tailored for both corporate organisations and individual users.

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe  has launched Econet AI, a dedicated standalone business unit created to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across the country’s economy.

The initiative was unveiled in Harare on Thursday alongside a portfolio of products and services aimed at driving rapid AI integration across sectors, with solutions tailored for both corporate organisations and individual users.

As part of the rollout, Econet AI will provide customers with six months of free access to Google Gemini starting in May. The multimodal AI platform supports the generation and processing of text, images, audio, video, and code, positioning it as a key enabler for productivity and digital innovation.

The new unit also introduced Cassava AiCloud, a high-performance computing platform powered by NVIDIA GPUs, designed to support enterprises running advanced, data-intensive workloads. The infrastructure is hosted at the Cassava AI Factory in South Africa, which is currently the only facility of its kind on the African continent.

The launch event in Harare brought together government representatives, regulators, industry leaders, and technology partners, highlighting broad stakeholder interest in advancing AI adoption in Zimbabwe.

Econet AI has evolved over the past five years as an internal innovation hub within the Econet Group, where artificial intelligence has been deployed across operations to improve customer experience, enhance network performance, and strengthen business decision-making. The company positions AI as a transformative technology capable of reducing operational costs while unlocking new revenue opportunities across industries.
