Through strategic alliances and international cooperation, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of Ethiopia’s journey toward inclusive digital transformation and sustainable growth.

Ethio telecom  is advancing its international collaboration efforts following a high-level strategic meeting between CEO Frehiwot Tamru and Sem Fabrizi, aimed at accelerating Ethiopia’s digital transformation and strengthening bilateral cooperation with Italian partners.

The discussions centered on expanding partnerships with Italian institutions and companies to support Ethio telecom’s ambitious Next Horizon: Digital & Beyond 2028 roadmap. This long-term strategy focuses on building a future-ready digital ecosystem while promoting inclusive national development. Both parties explored ways to deepen collaboration that aligns with Ethiopia’s broader economic modernization agenda.

A key highlight of the meeting was the progress review of ongoing collaboration with Ascot Energy, particularly in enhancing energy efficiency and deploying green infrastructure across telecom operations. These initiatives are critical to improving sustainability, reducing operational costs, and strengthening energy resilience within Ethiopia’s telecom sector.

The conversation also addressed practical steps to accelerate joint projects that support environmentally sustainable and efficient infrastructure. This includes efforts to integrate cleaner energy solutions and optimize operational performance across Ethio telecom’s expanding network.

In parallel, both sides reviewed engagement with Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), focusing on mobilizing financial support for large-scale initiatives under the Next Horizon strategy. These include investments in digital infrastructure and sustainable energy programs, which are essential to scaling connectivity and supporting Ethiopia’s digital economy.

Ambassador Sem Fabrizi commended Ethio telecom’s role in driving socio-economic development and reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to fostering stronger partnerships between Ethiopian and Italian enterprises. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration in advancing innovation, infrastructure development, and inclusive access to digital services.

Ethio telecom’s ongoing engagement with global partners reflects its commitment to building resilient, green, and future-ready infrastructure. Through strategic alliances and international cooperation, the company is positioning itself at the forefront of Ethiopia’s journey toward inclusive digital transformation and sustainable growth.
