2 min read

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance reaffirmed its commitment to decentralising innovation across Uganda, ensuring that digital transformation reaches all regions.

Ministry of ICT and National Guidance  has announced the official handover of the MTN  Spark Hub in Kabale, a new digital innovation facility aimed at expanding access to technology skills and opportunities for students and the wider community.

The handover ceremony took place at Kabale University, bringing together university leadership, students, community members, and key partners including the MTN Uganda Foundation, Centenary Technology Services, and Kabale University. The initiative is designed to strengthen collaboration between government, academia, and the private sector in advancing digital inclusion.

The MTN Spark Hub is positioned as a capacity-building platform that will equip young people with practical digital skills and access to training programmes in areas such as data science, cybersecurity, and software development. It is also expected to support innovation and provide pathways to globally competitive opportunities within the digital economy.

Officials noted that the hub goes beyond being a physical facility, serving instead as a catalyst for youth empowerment and community development. Through structured programmes and training initiatives, it aims to help bridge the digital skills gap and prepare students for emerging technology-driven careers.

The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance reaffirmed its commitment to decentralising innovation across Uganda, ensuring that digital transformation reaches all regions. It commended its partners for their continued support in driving inclusive digital growth and expanding access to future-ready skills outside major urban centres.
