The rollout underscores the growing importance of telecommunications infrastructure in enabling smart mining practices and reflects ongoing collaboration between telecom providers and industry players to build a more connected and technologically advanced mining ecosystem in Namibia.

MTC Namibia  has deployed and handed over four dedicated LTE network sites at Rössing Uranium Limited, marking a significant step in advancing digital connectivity within Namibia’s mining sector.

The deployment, completed on April 23, was carried out at the request of the Rössing mine to address connectivity gaps across key mining zones that previously experienced limited or inconsistent network coverage. The new LTE sites are expected to enhance communication capabilities and support more reliable digital operations on-site.

According to MTC Namibia, improved connectivity in mining environments is critical not only for operational efficiency but also for worker safety and real-time decision-making. The upgraded network infrastructure will enable faster data transmission, better coordination, and improved access to digital tools used in modern mining operations.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to accelerate digital transformation across Namibia’s industrial sectors. By extending high-quality connectivity to remote and operationally intensive environments such as mining sites, MTC aims to support the integration of digital technologies that can optimize productivity and safety.

The rollout underscores the growing importance of telecommunications infrastructure in enabling smart mining practices and reflects ongoing collaboration between telecom providers and industry players to build a more connected and technologically advanced mining ecosystem in Namibia.
