The regulator directed the company to compensate all customers affected between 13 and 20 April 2026, in response to service disruptions experienced during that period.

The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA)  has taken regulatory action against GVA Rwanda Ltd, the operator of internet service provider Canalbox,  citing continued non-compliance with service requirements.

In a statement shared on social media, RURA said the enforcement action is being taken under Article 269 of Law No. 24/2016. The regulator directed the company to compensate all customers affected between 13 and 20 April 2026, in response to service disruptions experienced during that period.

RURA also ordered the operator to pay daily penalties until full compliance is achieved and to submit regular progress reports within specified timelines as part of corrective measures.

The authority noted that GVA Rwanda Ltd has committed to complying with the directives. However, it warned that it will continue to closely monitor the company to ensure full restoration and stability of services.

RURA further cautioned that failure to meet the required conditions will result in additional regulatory sanctions.
