Guinea and Kenya Explore Strategic Digital Cooperation at Connected Africa Summit

At the 15th edition of the Connected Africa Summit held in Nairobi, senior officials from Guinea and Kenya held discussions aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in the digital sector. The meeting took place between Guinea’s Minister of Communication, Digital Economy and Innovation, Mourana SOUMAH, and Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communication and Digital Economy, William Kabogo Gitau.
The talks focused on building a strategic partnership between the two countries, with emphasis on key areas such as digital infrastructure development, improved connectivity, and the exchange of public policy experiences. The engagement aligns with broader efforts at the summit to promote an integrated African digital market.
Kenya’s experience in expanding its digital infrastructure was highlighted as a key reference point, particularly its significant progress in fibre-optic network deployment. This model is expected to inform Guinea’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its own national digital ecosystem.
Both sides also discussed the possibility of formalizing their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding. Such an agreement would help structure long-term collaboration and ensure more coordinated implementation of shared digital development goals.
The meeting underscores Guinea’s commitment to deeper African cooperation in the digital space, with a focus on knowledge sharing and accelerating the continent’s overall digital transformation.
