Under the new offering, entry-level plans will now deliver speeds of up to 15 Mbps, while mid-tier packages will offer 35 Mbps and 80 Mbps. Safaricom  has announced a major upgrade to its Home Fibre service, increasing internet speeds across all packages by up to 2.5 times without raising prices for customers.

Under the new offering, entry-level plans will now deliver speeds of up to 15 Mbps, while mid-tier packages will offer 35 Mbps and 80 Mbps. Higher-tier plans will see speeds rise to as much as 400 Mbps, targeting households with more demanding internet needs such as streaming, gaming, and remote work.

“With homes become increasingly connected, reliable high-speed internet is no longer a luxury but an essential service for modern living. By upgrading Home Fibre speeds, we are delivering greater value to our customers, strengthening our market leadership, and laying the foundation for smarter, more connected homes and communities across Kenya. Customer expectations continue to rise, and we are committed to meeting them while maintaining a competitive edge. With this upgrade, we aim to provide smooth multi-device streaming, buffer-free video calls, and reliable performance.”

Peter Ndegwa, CEO, Safaricom

The company said the upgrade is part of its broader strategy to enhance customer experience and future-proof households as demand for digital services continues to grow.

Safaricom’s fibre network currently covers more than 800,000 homes, reinforcing its position in Kenya’s fixed internet market. The speed improvements are expected to provide greater value for existing customers while supporting the increasing number of connected devices in homes.
