May 4, 2026
1 min read

The initiative is designed to modernize financial transactions in health facilities, with a focus on improving transparency and strengthening overall financial management.

The Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene in Senegal  has announced a new partnership with Ministère de la Santé et de l’Action sociale  and the fintech company Wave  aimed at advancing the digitalization of payments within the country’s healthcare system.

The initiative is designed to modernize financial transactions in health facilities, with a focus on improving transparency and strengthening overall financial management. By reducing reliance on cash-based processes, the partnership is expected to enhance accountability and efficiency across public health institutions.

Officials also say the reform will help simplify access to healthcare services for citizens by making payments faster, safer, and more accessible through digital channels. This is expected to reduce administrative bottlenecks and improve the overall user experience in health facilities.

The collaboration is being positioned as a practical step toward building more efficient, transparent, and citizen-centered public services, aligned with broader efforts to modernize public administration through digital tools.
