Egypt Opens Modernised Beni Suef Post Office as Part of Nationwide Digital Transformation Drive
The newly developed post office has been equipped with advanced technological systems to deliver a wide range of services, including postal, financial, government, and “Digital Egypt” offerings.
Raafat Hendy has inaugurated the upgraded Beni Suef Main Post Office during an official visit to Beni Suef, as part of broader efforts to modernise postal and digital service infrastructure nationwide. The opening was attended by Governor Abdullah Abdel Aziz and Dalia Elbaz, marking a key milestone in Egypt’s push toward enhanced digital and financial inclusion.
The newly developed post office has been equipped with advanced technological systems to deliver a wide range of services, including postal, financial, government, and “Digital Egypt” offerings. The minister noted that the upgrade is part of a comprehensive strategy by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to modernise Egypt Post, expand service accessibility, and improve efficiency. The transformation also aims to support citizens who may have limited access to digital tools, ensuring broader participation in the country’s digital economy.
Officials highlighted that Egypt Post has evolved beyond traditional services to become a key provider of financial and government solutions, including real estate registration and digital services. In Beni Suef alone, the postal network includes 134 offices—94 of which have been upgraded—alongside mobile units, kiosks, and ATMs serving approximately 150,000 residents.
As part of the visit, Hendy also toured a Telecom Egypt retail store in New Beni Suef City, which serves around 24,000 customers, including a large base of fixed broadband users. The visit focused on assessing service quality and operational performance across the telecom sector.
In a related engagement, the minister visited El-Noor School for the Blind to review initiatives supporting technology-driven education for persons with disabilities. The government, in collaboration with the National Academy of Information Technology for Persons with Disabilities, has equipped dozens of schools with assistive technologies and trained over 1,200 educators in the governorate. During the visit, Hendy called for enhanced technological support and improved internet connectivity at the school.
The visit forms part of a wider tour of ICT projects in the region, including a stop at a Samsung Electronics manufacturing facility and the signing of cooperation agreements to advance digital transformation and community development. The initiative underscores Egypt’s commitment to building an inclusive, technology-driven society through infrastructure development, education, and strategic partnerships.
