Under the proposed arrangement, members of ICTAZ will gain access to Huawei training programmes and certification pathways, which will also be recognised as Continuous Professional Development (CPD) credits in line with ICTAZ policy.

The Information and Communications Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ)  has intensified its collaboration with Huawei Technologies  Zambia Company Limited to advance ICT skills development and professional training across the country.

The engagement involved ICTAZ CEO Chellah Silavwe and Huawei Zambia Managing Director Dylan Lyu, where both parties reached high-level agreement on terms for a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The partnership is expected to significantly expand access to globally recognised ICT certifications for ICTAZ members.

Under the proposed arrangement, members of ICTAZ will gain access to Huawei training programmes and certification pathways, which will also be recognised as Continuous Professional Development (CPD) credits in line with ICTAZ policy. This is expected to enhance professional growth and industry readiness among ICT practitioners in Zambia.

The collaboration will provide certification opportunities across three levels: Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), Huawei Certified ICT Professional (HCIP), and Huawei Certified ICT Expert (HCIE). These programmes will cover key emerging technology areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Storage, and 5G technologies.

Beyond training, the two institutions also explored broader cooperation in initiatives such as the Huawei ICT Competition, ICTAZ Young Innovators Day, and the upcoming TICON Conference, aimed at fostering innovation and youth participation in the ICT sector.

ICTAZ noted that the partnership aligns with its mission of strengthening ICT professionalism and delivering member-focused value through capacity building, innovation, and inclusivity. Huawei, for its part, reaffirmed its commitment to local talent development, noting that a significant portion of its workforce in Zambia is locally employed.

The initiative is expected to play a key role in building a more skilled ICT workforce and supporting Zambia’s digital transformation agenda.
