The initiative also aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the country’s ambition to strengthen its role in the global digital economy.

The United Nations Development Programme (United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has strengthened its engagement with Côte d’Ivoire’s private sector through a new strategic partnership with Orange Côte d’Ivoire  aimed at advancing digital inclusion, youth empowerment—especially for women—and entrepreneurship development.

The agreement was formalized on Thursday, May 21, 2026, through a memorandum of understanding that sets the stage for joint initiatives designed to support sustainable development efforts and help reduce social and economic inequalities across the country.

“This agreement represents a major step to accelerate digital inclusion and entrepreneurship in Côte d’Ivoire by mobilizing the strengths of the private sector and international partners for a more equitable and sustainable development.”

Blerta Cela, Resident Representative in Côte d’Ivoire, UNDP

Under this collaboration, both organizations will focus on leveraging digital transformation as a driver of development. Working closely with Orange Côte d’Ivoire’s Orange Digital Center, the partnership will roll out training programs, entrepreneurship support initiatives, and digital projects targeting rural and vulnerable communities.

“We are proud to strengthen our commitment to digital inclusion and youth empowerment in partnership with the UNDP. Together, we want to create concrete opportunities for all, especially for women and vulnerable populations.”

Mamadou Bamba, CEO, Orange Côte d’Ivoire

Key areas of focus include building digital skills through professional training, supporting startups and innovation hubs, and expanding access to digital tools beyond major urban centers such as Abidjan to reach underserved populations.

The initiative also aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reinforcing the country’s ambition to strengthen its role in the global digital economy.
